Position Title:Academic Advisor II Job Group:Professional & Scientific Required Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience Preferred Qualifications:• Degree in higher education, student affairs, communication, counseling, engineering or STEM-related field • Experience advising undergraduate students • Experience that demonstrates knowledge about higher education policies, procedures and resources • Experience coordinating student programs and/or learning communities • Experience teaching undergraduate academic courses and seminars Job Description: Summary The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering at Iowa State University is seeking an Academic Advisor II to join our student services team. This role is essential in enhancing the academic experience of undergraduate students and supporting recruitment and retention efforts. The successful candidate will assist with academic advising, career guidance, and various student programs, contributing to a supportive and engaging learning environment. Key Responsibilities: + Assist students with registration and academic planning. + Review Academic Progress Reports and provide career guidance. + Refer students to resources that support their retention and academic success. + Participate in recruitment activities, including meeting with prospective students and their families. + Teach orientation and seminar courses. + Coordinate learning community programs. + Serve on departmental committees as needed.
