Posting Details Position Information Date New Hire Needed Job Title Academic Assistant I, Career Level B2, Full-time 11 months Department Dean of the College Position Summary Information Job Summary POSITION SUMMARY Under general direction, Academic Assistant 1 provides faculty with comprehensive administrative and academic support. This role involves performing advanced, diverse, and confidential administrative duties requiring extensive experience, skill, and knowledge of organizational policies and practices. The Academic Assistant 1 manages programs, projects, and processes specific to the departments served, exercising independent judgment and basic reasoning skills. This position requires frequent interaction with internal and external contacts, often involving non-routine matters that demand a high degree of tact, diplomacy, and discretion. This is a full-time role operating 11 months per year. Responsibilities: + Provide administrative support to faculty and teaching staff, including composing and editing class and research materials, processing accessible course reserves, and facilitating classroom teaching with electronic resources. + Serve as a communication liaison for the department, managing correspondence with on- and off-campus stakeholders. + Manage day-to-day office operations, including supervising student office assistants, overseeing departmental budgets, and approving purchases, expenses, and honoraria. + Maintain and update the department’s online presence and manage building access, including electronic access and key distribution. + Design and archive promotional materials, such as posters and programs for Theatre, Dance, and Studio Art events, and coordinate play rights and production information with directors and stage managers. + Support faculty recruitment by coordinating application processes, scheduling, and logistics for on-campus interviews and search committee activities. Minimum Qualifications + High School diploma or General Education Degree ( GED ) + One year or more of experience + Effective communicator across diverse constituencies using various modes of communication. + Strong customer service and teamwork skills. + Ability to independently manage workloads, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. + Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. + High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and minimal supervision required. + Skilled in composition, editing, and proofreading with an emphasis on grammar and punctuation. Preferred Qualifications + Microsoft Office Specialist Certification in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint preferred.
