Academic Global Business Manager

The Portfolio Business Unit is passionate about rebuilding our brand presence in the Academic community. Emerson T&M strives to become a trusted engineering partner, whose goal is to improve engineering education by making engineering technologies understandable and accessible to all through low-cost fundamental tools for the classroom.  

This senior-level position will develop the strategy to expand NI’s Academic Teaching business. They will re-engage with the Academic community, collaborate with others to build and drive our Go-to-Market strategy and expand our reach within the classroom across key universities globally.  

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will be to (including, but not limited to):

Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy and growth plan for our Academic Teaching business.  Drive cross-functional teams to build a Go-to-Market strategy with committed plans that achieve our core objectives. Understand forward-looking market insights and trends that advise our key value propositions drive enablement strategy on our differentiation in marketplace. Develop positive relationships within the Academic community and serve as an academic spokesperson. Represent NI as the key business and technology leader in Academic events and with partner relationships (ECHEDA, ASEE, Industry advisor roles). Champion the Academic community with our investment and business decisions, including the definition and prioritization of product features and requirements based on customer needs, competitive analysis, and market trends. Evangelize our strategy to our internal and external stakeholders to ensure there is a clear understanding of our plans and focus areas.

A model for our core values  Leadership-level business manager experienced at driving strategic direction for how NI achieves this at scale.   Works in collaboration with other team members to rethink how Emerson T&M can grow this business globally.  Hungry to better use our sales, marketing and partner channels.   Passionate to develop new motions, identify gaps, and promote new ways of thinking that focuses on simplicity and broad-based customer success in the Academic space.  

For This Role, You Will Need:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related engineering majors Minimum of 5-7 years relevant experiences on business development, sales, product or offering management and/or market development  Strong sales and business acumen, strategic and logic thinking capability and entrepreneurship spirit Good communication skills including actively listening, influencing and negotiation Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate customer feedback into actionable insights Strong cross-functional team leadership, communication, and inter-personal skills with consistent track record to develop and lead teams without direct management responsibility Acceptance of 25% travel time
