Assist with a wide variety of tasks and processes involved in the day-to-day operations of Athletic Academic Services. Our interns must be able to problem-solve and make ethical and policy-based decisions. They must have strong communication skills and the ability to connect with individuals from diverse educational, cultural, and economic backgrounds. They should be strong in their written, verbal, and listening skills and work both independently and collaboratively with the academic team. The ability to teach academic success strategies is essential.
List of Duties:
+ Determine the academic support needs of student-athletes through weekly advising meetings, grade reports and communication with instructors as needed
+ Learn and utilize Navigate, ARMS, TeamWorks, PeopleSoft, UM Data Warehouse, and Compliance Assistant
+ Assist student-athletes with class scheduling to ensure progress towards degree
+ Check classes for student-athlete attendance and report absences
+ Supervise study hall program
+ Create and update administrative reports, including academic grade reports, study hall reports, and daily reports related to progress and behavior
+ Monitor and track student-athlete class assignments, grades and feedback from professors
+ Assist with the scheduling and tracking of tutorial appointments
+ Cultivate relationships with various departments, staff and faculty across campus
+ Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
+ Must be available some evenings and weekends
+ Other duties and projects as assigned
