**The Department of Information Technology has an outstanding opportunity for an Academic Technologist, Media and AI to join their team.** **POSITION PURPOSE**
The Academic Technologist, Media and AI is responsible for creating digital media, providing support, and training on digital media technologies and initiatives. This role also focuses on integrating AI into faculty and staff teaching and workflows.
The Academic Technologist develops and supports digital media projects using UW Information Technology (UW-IT) tools and other educational technologies. They conduct training sessions on digital media and AI technologies for faculty to enhance their teaching methods and workflows. The Academic Technologist provides technical assistance to faculty integrating media and AI into their courses, creates learning resources, and collaborates with UW Bothell’s Learning & Teaching Collaborative to assist faculty on course redesigns involving digital media and AI.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** General Support:
+ Provide end-user support for learning technologies including the Learning Management system, lecture capture, audience response tools, and video conferencing softwares.
+ Provide support, training, and consultation on the use of instructional and productivity technologies. The support, training, and consultation focuses on helping faculty and staff identify best fit for purpose technologies focusing on use of UW Information Technology (UW-IT) provided productivity and educational technologies.
+ Working with UW Bothell IT and other UW Bothell subject matter experts, identify and develop trainings for faculty and staff for UW supported productivity technologies.
+ Effectively design workshops on the use of technology, utilizing synchronous and asynchronous modalities.
+ Partner with instructional design coaches to provide coordinated on-boarding, particularly support to new faculty re: educational technology.
+ Engages as assigned in special projects and initiatives.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.Artificial Intelligence Support:
+ Collaborates with faculty to enhance their teaching and research through the effective use of AI technologies.
+ Conducts training sessions and workshops to educate faculty on AI concepts, tools, and best practices.
+ Provides ongoing technical support and troubleshooting for AI-related projects and tools.
+ Creates and maintains resources, such as guides, tutorials and videos, to support faculty in using AI effectively.
+ Partners with faculty on research projects that involve AI, offering technical expertise and support.
+ Stays updated on the latest AI trends and technologies, and advises on strategic initiatives to incorporate AI into the university's academic programs.
+ Assists in the management and analysis of data for AI projects, ensuring data integrity and security.Multi-Media Support:
+ Collaborates with UW Bothell instructional coaches, faculty, subject matter experts and staff to create, develop, and deploy multimedia course materials within the course management system. Based on faculty request, provide students skill-based media workshops (i.e., audio, video and photo editing software).
+ Develops robust digital multimedia content, including text, graphics, audio, video, animations, and simulations that adhere to copyright/fair use guidelines and university, state, and federal accessibility standards.
+ Maintains the quality, accuracy and effectiveness of online multimedia instructional materials in accordance with the university's online course standards, outcomes assessment results, faculty reviews, and student feedback.
+ Develops and conducts training workshops on multimedia use, design and development, and creates instructional materials for faculty and staff on multimedia development and deployment.
+ Researches, evaluates, and recommends new software and innovative approaches for integrating high-quality multimedia materials in online and in-person courses.Student Supervision:
+ Manage the Media student tutor(s). Manages a 20 hour a week position that provides one on one student support for digital media related software and hardware. Student worker is a peer mentor for the other students in the MCS and media focused programs/courses.
+ Supervising, scheduling, timesheet management, hiring, training, and other duties.
+ Develop trainings and other resources for student workers.
+ Provide them with projects to help build their skill(s) in interactive media design.Communication & Teamwork:
+ Communicate project and operational status, updates and issues to management and keep team members informed.
+ Practice active listening skills and be respectful in all communications (verbal, non-verbal and written) to reduce conflicts, strengthen cooperation and foster understanding.
+ Interpret and communicate information, ideas and instructions clearly and accurately both verbally and in written materials intended for distribution.
+ Effectively convey technical information to a non-technical audience. Seek and confirm understanding and ability to apply learning from audience members.
+ Build and enhance skills across the Digital Technologies team by information sharing and cross training.Department Specific:

+ Support and demonstrate UW Bothell’s Collaboration Principles. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
+ Bachelor’s degree in media design, computer & information technology, digital arts, education, communications, or related field and 3 years’ experience working with Learning Management Systems and supporting instructional software; including, workshop development and consultations. **Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.** **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**

+ Working knowledge of media delivery formats including streaming video and their integration into a course management system.

+ Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere).
+ Knowledge of current standards and trends in integrating technology with teaching and learning pedagogy.
+ Experience developing faculty skills with academic technologies. **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
