Stanford’s Online High School is an accredited, diploma-offering, highly selective independent high school, offering courses for grades 7-12. Stanford Online High School is also the home ofStanford Pre-Collegiate Studies (SPCS), which provides a diverse array of academic enrichment programs that take place mostly in the summer but also throughout the academic year. Held both online and on-campus, SPCS programs serve intellectually curious pre-college students from around the world.
Stanford Online High School offices are located at theStanford Redwood City Campus, however this position is eligible for a remote work arrangement, upon mutual agreement. You must be located within the United States of America and be available to travel to the main campus up to three times per year for important in-person events.
The Academic Technology Manager will be responsible for managing the team that provides direct support to OHS and SPCS students, as well as their instructors. This role involves monitoring and ensuring the continuous availability of external platforms required for instruction, working closely with external vendors to prevent technical disruptions and ensure that classes run smoothly. The Academic Technology Manager will be leading the development of resources on existing technical platforms to help onboard new students and instructors as well as leading workshops on exploring new innovative technologies that support instruction and learning. Staying current with EdTech research, particularly Generative AI, and advocating for effective use of educational technology across departments are crucial aspects of the role.
Reporting to the Director of Technology, the Academic Technology Manager will be part of a dynamic and collaborative team of technologists providing technical support for the Online High School and SPCS programs. Collaboration with team members and other departments within the organization will be essential for the success in this role.
Your responsibilities include:
+ Assist with providing departmental leadership for using technology in teaching, learning, and community building. Ensure all OHS and SPCS programs have appropriate technology available during class times with minimal downtime and interruption for synchronous and asynchronous class rooms. Report system issues to external vendor support teams, monitor until resolved.
+ Manage the team that monitors and responds to Tech Help tickets from students, parents and staff of OHS and SPCS programs. Respond to escalated tickets from students and support the team in researching complex issues. Be responsible for oversight of timely response to student and instructor tickets, monitoring Slack channels for live classroom support needs, for both OHS & SPCS, during school year and summer programs.
+ Manage the scheduling of tech support with extended coverage during the start of the school year and specific program times when extended hours of support are needed. Be prepared to cover some of the extended hours with early morning or evening hours about two weeks per term.
+ Manage tech support coverage of online events and in-classroom technology for in-person classes on Stanford campus during the summer. Ensuring that those providing onsite support receive adequate training and support.
+ Lead the development of seminars, courses, or workshops to disseminate information about uses of technology within OHS and SPCS programs.
+ Lead the review of, and regularly update and develop, the documentation of tech support information for instructors and students for the various technical systems that are used throughout OHS and the programs. Ensure that the written and video resources related to student and instructor use of OHS’s technology are maintained and kept up to date. Assign to appropriate staff accordingly and manage the quality of documentation and resources.
+ Assist with coordination of academic learning technology policies and procedures. Analyze current procedures related to acceptable use related to software used in online classrooms, suggesting improvements for automated processes, and monitoring implementation.
+ Lead projects to develop innovative uses of technology for research, student learning and/or community building. Consult with service providers, such as University IT, on opportunities to utilize University Infrastructure for OHS or SPCS programs. Engage with individual vendors on desired features and functional gaps of their product to make it fit the needs of OHS or SPCS programs. Ensure that issues and desired features are appropriately tracked and followed up.
+ Manage the onboarding of new instructional staff with regard to the key technologies used for the courses the instructor is teaching. Ensure that new instructional staff has the appropriate access to instructional systems and resources to be trained on systems to be successful. Lead the continuous improvement of resources available to incoming instructional staff like tutorials, asynchronous courses etc
+ Stay abreast of educational technology research. Participate in EdTech conferences to stay on top of educational technology trends. Read relevant EdTech research and media; share insights with colleagues. In particular stay abreast of Generative AI and be a champion within OHS for the exploration of tools associated with GenAI that might benefit instruction and learning.
+ Provide expertise and support in applying instructional design methodologies to the development, implementation, and evaluation of face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses. Collaborate with instructors on innovative uses of EdTech tools.
+ Provide outreach and advocacy within and across departments for effective uses of educational technology.
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
+ Bachelor's degree plus four years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
+ Expertise in utilizing technology to enhance teaching.
+ Ability to define and solve logical problems for technical applications.
+ Demonstrated ability to express course material and pedagogic goals through the imaginative application of technology to existing materials and structures.
+ Ability to plan, design, develop and evaluate engaging multimedia learning/training objects.
+ Experience with delivering applications in a networked environment.
+ Excellent teaching, communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to interact effectively and tactfully with members of the academic community; demonstrated experience working in an environment with colleagues of diverse backgrounds and customs.
+ Demonstrated expertise with instructional design methodologies, pedagogical issues and best practices for classroom, online learning.
+ Excellent time management and project management skills. Demonstrated ability to manage a complex workload, prioritize tasks and use good judgment in providing services based on goal.
+ Expert knowledge of Macintosh and Windows environments.
+ Demonstrated experience developing and delivering technical training to a non-technical audience.
+ Expert knowledge of learning management systems and various classroom and online learning technologies.
+ Excellent customer service skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with a diverse audience of faculty, staff and students.
Physical Requirements:

Working Conditions:
+ Occasional weekend and extended hours during high support demand times. Occasional overnight travel, a minimum of three times per year for all-school events, plus there may be periodic in-person meetings, as the business need requires.
_This role is open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Stanford University hasfive Regional Pay Structures. The compensation for this position will be based on the location of the successful candidate._
_The expected pay range for this position is $93,580 - $110,094 per annum for the Stanford Work location, and $68,225 - $95,267 per annum for Remote ( all other regions)._
