Under the direct supervision of the Program Director and Retention Specialist, the TRIO SSS Tutor will work on assisting assigned students in academic tutoring, to include note-taking, study skills, and review of online content including syllabi, etc. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma and four to five years of related experience or required course work/certification and or specialized skills/training. Or a combination of education and related experience for a total of four to five years.

High School diploma and completion of at least 30 credits hours at the collegiate level with an overall average of “B” or better (or GPA of 3.0 on 4-point scale) in major courses. Must have earned a grade of “A” in specific course in order to serve as tutor. Experience as a tutor or prior transferable experience preferred. Criteria CRITERIA: The following criteria, which are not the sole criteria used in the final hiring decision, will be used to review the applications of those persons who meet the stated minimum qualifications and to select those qualified applicants who will be interviewed. Assists in providing tutoring to project participants. Provides in class or in-laboratory assistance. Provides general knowledge working with individual and small group tutoring in Developmental Reading, Writing, English, Math and English as a Second Language, as well as other subjects when tutor is qualified to tutor such subjects. Utilizes fully integrated computerized information system [Ellucian] Provides good customer service to participants of the program. Maintains tutoring files/grants records with accuracy and efficiency. Participates in tutor training meeting and staff development sessions. Prepares correspondence, program information, and services related hospitality. Performs other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements Must be available to work Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Work schedule subject to change based on the needs of the department. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
