Position Title Academic Tutors Access Program Department Opportunity amp Outreach Office Position Category TemporaryPart time About CCRI The Community College of Rhode Island is the states only public comprehensive associate degree granting institution We provide affordable open access to higher education at locations throughout the state Our primary mission is to offer recent high school graduates and returning adults the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for intellectual professional and personal growth through an array of academic career and lifelong learning programsAt CCRI we are committed to building an inclusive and diverse campus community We strive to hire and retain culturally competent faculty and staff members who reflect the demographics of our state and our increasingly diverse student populationWe believe that our diversity is our strength We celebrate support and thrive on the diverse experiences backgrounds and perspectives that are represented across our four campusesWe are OneCCRI working together to prepare learners to achieve their highest potentialTo learn about what employees value at CCRI and what it means to work here please read about our Guiding Principles and watch videos of our employees doing what they do best httpswwwccrieduequitycultureguidingprincipleshtml Job Summary The Community College of Rhode Island seeks tutors for the AccessTRIO Student Support Services program Access provides academic support to first generation low income students and students with disabilities Access tutors provide one on one tutoring in a variety of academic subjects as well as provide assistance with study skills time management test anxiety etcAccess is seeking tutors for the following subjects Math developmental calculus Biology Intro to Biology Advanced Anatomy amp Physiology Physics Nursing Computer Programming Geology Psychology History Philosophy CCRI courses descriptions may be found online at httpswwwccrieducatalogcurrentcoursesletter M Duties and Responsibilities Provide one on one virtual andor in person tutoring to designated students up to 5 students each semester Tutors are matched with students for the semester and provide each student with 3 hours of tutoring each week Explain and review subject material and concepts Assist students with developing organization time management study skills and cope with test anxiety Submit weekly reports for individual tutor sessions Provide student evaluations at the end of the semester Attend training sessions as requested Minimum Requirements Minimum of Bachelors degree in subject area Demonstrated proficiency in subject area Completion of courses in which tutoring is being conducted with a earned grade of B or higher and an overall GPA of 30 Strong technology skills and understanding Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are essential Competencies Masters degree in subject area preferred Teaching andtutor experience in educational setting preferred Work experience in subject matter a plus Experience with Zoom and WebEx preferred Knowledge of individual learning styles as well as experience working with diverse populations adult and multi lingual learners and individuals with disabilities a plus Reports To Access Tutor Coordinator Campus Location All Campuses Full timePart time Part Time Shift Days and Additional Work Schedule Information Maximum 19 hoursweek Work Schedule Calendar Benefits SalaryHourly Rate 2500 per hour Additional Salary Information Licenses Tools and Equipment Environmental Conditions Desired Start Date ASAP Position End Date if temporary or grant
