Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking an ACCESS Academic Coach - Advisor III - Boca Raton, FL.
The Academic Coach is a valued member of the ACCESS team with primary responsibility to provide academic, curriculum, and University program guidance and support for students. ACCESS (Academic Coaching and Career Enhancement For Student Success) is Florida Atlantic University’s student support program that offers a comprehensive approach to student success, focusing on academic coaching, advising, tutoring, and career counseling. In return, students are aided and empowered to build and cultivate a meaningful connection to the University, while at the same time, positioned and prepared for success both at the University as well as into the greater community and working world, after graduation.
Primary responsibilities include:
+ Manage a caseload with a specialized focus of upper division students on academic probation or otherwise identified at-risk and meet with students on a reoccurring basis throughout the semester to assist with course requirements when appropriate, setting academic goals, and developing academic and career action plans.
+ Collaborate with Florida Atlantic college advising offices, Career Center, Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), families and other members of the University community to develop/implement programs that address the needs of upper division students on academic probation or otherwise identified at-risk.
+ Work with and support students transitioning between majors with the intent of completing a degree at Florida Atlantic.
+ Use of advising early warning software to proactively identity students for outreach and intervention.
+ Provides reports and data analysis of coaching initiatives and special populations.
+ In support of our students, this position will require some evening and virtual working hours on a rotating basis.
Secondary/additional responsibilities include:
+ Clear undergraduate registration holds; respond to email inquiries, present at new student orientations, assist with campus events, such as the Admissions Office open house and campus days and other activities supporting the mission of UAS.
+ May serve as a liaison to an assigned college or student support unit on campus.
+ Provided academic advising of general education courses, as necessary.
+ May teach Student Life Skills (SLS) courses.
+ Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience. Graduate internships can be applied toward the three years of required experience.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Demonstrated proficiency in MS hardware and software (i.e., Word, Access, Outlook, Excel) and LMS systems (Canvas).
Demonstrated effective personal and professional collaborative and communication skills (i.e., verbal, written, public speaking, etc.).
Teaching experience, and preferably in higher education, including in-person and/or classroom settings
Working knowledge of the Appreciative Advising model is highly desired.

$58,000 per year

Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and some evenings and weekends (as needed) will be required.

SPECIAL NOTES:
This Academic Coach is a 3-year position. The selected incumbent will be provided a 3-year fixed-term appointment, evaluated annually, and continuation is contingent upon continued funding and satisfactory performance.
