Employee will be responsible for providing technical and clerical support for the department, including report creation and maintenance of various computer/software systems used. They will assist in evaluation, testing, and training of computer related Enterprise wide and other applications/functions. Employee is under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Patient Financial Services and is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Participates in creation, testing, training, and oversight/maintenance of specific departmental computer applications at times assuming lead role. Assists with training of employees outside own department, as indicated.Uses data specifically to develop monthly data packet for department managers and Patient Financial Services administration. Data included but not limited to various Revenue Cycle and Patient Financial Services metrics.Serves as initial point of contact to department users for system maintenance needs.Assists in analyzing problems with computer-based information systems, works with software vendors and customers to resolve problems with existing software.Composes, creates, types, and maintains spreadsheets and reports, files and maintains other materials for the department.Serves as or assists Safety/Education Representative for most cost centers of the department; assures compliance for employee participation on safety and/or other in services. Participates in time and attendance tasks, as directed. Maintains records of absenteeism, tardiness, FMLA events and other personnel accounts and reports items needing address to management, as indicated, in most cost centers.Responsible for initiation and appropriate handling of personnel related documentation and paperwork. Maintains strict confidentiality practice with all that is dealt with.Understanding of basic departmental admitting/registration/access processes and remains current with such.Schedules meetings, makes appointments, secures meeting rooms, and schedules staff as needed for various meetings. Handles all paperwork and contacts associated with above, as directed.Monitors overall ordering needs for all cost centers and takes responsibility for cost reduction/maintenance. Attends meetings and participates on various committees, as indicated. Assumes other duties related to department’s areas, as requested. Prioritizes tasks, workload in most effective, efficient and positive manner.Contributes to a positive work climate and overall team effort of the department. Demonstrates, understands and supports our hospital Mission, Culture and Vision statements. Uses positive communication skills in all realms of job.Takes personal accountability for professional growth and development.Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Ability to perform technical/clerical duties as acquired through high school graduation, with Bachelor’s degree in computer or related subject preferred.Ability to effectively interact and communicate with other personnel, physicians, vendors, patients and their families.Previous experience in patient financial services preferred.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:
N/AEXPERIENCE:
3-5 years hospital or customer service/technical experience preferred.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to plan, manage, monitor and evaluate flow of electronic information. Proficiency in use of personal computer and software.Skills and proficiency in the principles and techniques of computers. Ability to problem-shoot technical difficulties with computer system/technology.Extensive computer knowledge in Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Ability to type 45 words per minute with accuracy, use calculator, personal computer and other routine office machinery.Good organizational skills.
