By Light Professional IT Services LLC is seeking a highly skilled Accessibility Testing Support Lead to oversee and support the testing and research initiatives related to digital accessibility for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This role is pivotal in ensuring that all digital products are accessible and user-friendly for Veterans, including those with disabilities. The Accessibility Testing Support Lead will manage research requests, provide resources for assistive technology studies, and support VFS team members and accessibility specialists. We are seeking an Accessibility Testing Support Lead that is passionate about accessibility and forward thinking beyond just 508 compliance.
Responsibilities Oversee all incoming research requests and ensure that Veteran-facing service (VFS) researchers have the necessary resources to conduct assistive technology studies effectively. Coordinate the allocation of devices and software needed for testing, including iPhones, Android phones, JAWS, and other assistive technologies. Provide expertise in the use of various testing devices and software platforms, ensuring comprehensive coverage of accessibility testing. Manage the inventory and availability of testing equipment to support ongoing and future research initiatives. Host regular office hours to support VFS team members, including fellow accessibility specialists, providing guidance and solutions to accessibility challenges. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate accessibility findings into product development and improvement processes. Maintain detailed documentation of research findings and testing outcomes to inform future accessibility strategies. Track and report on key accessibility metrics to demonstrate progress and impact. Provide training and support to team members on the use of assistive technologies and accessibility testing best practices. Advocate for accessibility improvements and foster a culture of inclusivity and continuous improvement. Required Experience/Qualifications BS in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Proven experience in accessibility testing and support, with familiarity with various devices and assistive technologies. Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams. Experience in managing research requests and resources in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Experience/Qualifications Familiarity with the VA.gov platform and its accessibility requirements. Experience in conducting research with assistive technology users and integrating findings into product development.
