Location/Division Specific Information

The Microbiology Business Division (MBD) offers a complete range of clinical lab supplies & automation platforms that support the clinical microbiology market segment. MBD has approximately $1.1B+ in revenue and 3400+ employees across the Americas, Europe and Asia.

Location: US - Remote / Field

Territory: Texas (less Houston and Gulf coast), Western half of Oklahoma

 Discover Impactful Work:

The Account Manager (AM) is tasked with achieving annual revenue goals for both consumables & capital within the clinical segment of the Microbiology Division (MBD). The portfolio class of products used to achieve these goals primarily centers around Culture Media, Viral Transport Media, and our Capital Instrumentation (APAS Automation and Sensititre™).

The AM is accountable for technical sales to hospitals and reference laboratories including presentations/demonstrations, coordination of site visits and achieving an annual quota for the assigned region. The AM will target accounts to position our media & automation solutions, prospect for targets and purposefully convert business to the MBD solution.

Your team will include 4 other account mangers (AM), an Instrument Sales Specialist (ISS), a Key Account Manager (KAM), and an Inside Sales Representative (ISR).

 

A day in the Life:Identify prospective buyers of Thermo Fisher products and services with the goal of acquiring new accounts and growing market shareNegotiate contracts and close orders with end users and purchasing departments and support all procurement processesEnter accurate and complete customer data and sales information into the company sales database (SFDC CRM system)Provide accurate and timely weekly sales forecasts to sales managementAssist sales leadership with future financial planning by providing insight into the prospects for growth within your territoryDeliver technical and business presentations at trade shows, user meetings, customer seminars and other customer eventsMeet your key performance indicators as set by sales leadershipLead key Customer Relationships & Distributor Business Partnerships.

Keys to Success:

Education

Bachelor's Degree in a Life Science, ideally Biology or similar field.

Experience

3+ years of consultative sales experience in a technical environment.Familiarity with or strong background selling in a clinical laboratory space.Ideally some experience of selling capital equipment and associated consumables.Alternatively, a candidate with no sales experience but with strong commercial awareness and good technical knowledge of Clinical Diagnostic Lab setting gained as a lab supervisor or technician (or similar).

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

A broad familiarity with any of the following industries would be an advantage: Microbiology, Biology, Molecular, Clinical, or ChemistryA sales mentality; strongly motivated by targets and the desire to win new businessMust hold a valid Drivers LicenseProficient in English
