BUSINESS UNIT: PRODUCT PIPELINES 

Kinder Morgan is the largest independent transporter of petroleum products in North America, transporting approximately 2.4 million barrels per day. The great majority of these products are transported through our Products Pipelines business, which moves gasoline, jet fuel, diesel, natural gas liquids and condensate through about 9,500 miles of pipelines. We also have approximately 65 liquids terminals in this business segment that store fuels and offer blending services for ethanol and biofuels.


Primary purpose

We are looking to fill a Business Development position for Kinder Morgan's West Coast Refined Products assets to assist in finding new growth opportunities while also optimizing current revenue streams.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Managing commercial matters for existing assets and projects – includes, but not limited to:

Customer service, including relationship building; determining needs of individual customers and customers in the aggregate, and how best to use internal resources to address the customer's needsFinancial stewardship such as annual budget preparation, weekly budget deviations and variances, economics for new projects, economics to support sustaining projects; tracking and analyzing volumes on a periodic (at least monthly) basis, and reporting volumes to managementPrimary point of contact for shipper/customer business; primary responsibility for ensuring customer concerns are met and customer issues are resolved, including understanding confidentialityBuilding and maintaining industry relationshipsContracts and agreements; oversee contract implementation from initiation of negotiation with third party/customer to execution and implementationInterface with Engineering, Field Operations, Accounting, Control Center; ensure goals understood across the organization, particularly with respect to shipper matters and customer service

Optimizing the revenue stream – includes, but not limited to:

Understanding budget deviations and variances and developing plan to addressMaintaining industry relationships and points of contact with major customers to gather intel on changes in trends and markets

Developing new projects –includes, but not limited to:

Understanding the asset base and customer needs in order to identify new project opportunitiesLeadership, coordination and facilitation of multi-functional teams to scope and optimize projectsUnderstanding the market and the competitive environmentDeveloping economics
