The Senior Accountant is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.

Responsibilities Manage Fixed Assets process from start to finish including researching discrepancies and preparation of account reconciliationsMonitor the construction in progress accounts and partner with applicable business partners on tracking the status of open projectsReview of PO’s and invoices for potential capital expenditures in eRequester and Facility Source Repair and Maintenance third party systemUpdate the monthly Store Listing file and share with business partnersContribute to the execution of the monthly, quarterly and annual close processes including completing reconciliations, escalation and resolution of issues, and meeting all associated deadlinesPerform monthly variance analysis on P&L and balance sheet accounts and field questions within the organizationAssist in the completion of the annual store impairment analysis Manually track and periodically book franchise related fixed asset activityCalculate trend performance on major areasAssist in financial analysis and budgetingParticipate in preparation of monthly reporting and Fixed Asset related reports Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control proceduresWork collaboratively with the General Accounting team and the Finance Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial statements accounts including Fixed Assets and Depreciation Expense; among other accounting areasReview, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, general ledger accounts, and financial reportsConduct balance sheet analytics and prepare robust commentary explaining variancesAs needed, record fixed asset related fair-value purchase accounting adjustmentsAs needed, support Treasury Department as a back-up for daily cash reportingWork closely with internal and external auditors in completing audits providing appropriate insight and documentation

Preparation of various journal entries in conformity with established procedures.

 

Other Functions:

Participate in ad hoc projects. Qualifications

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of experience and instructionCPA preferred

Required Knowledge:

Knowledge of basic accounting concepts and procedures including preparation of account reconciliations.Knowledge of Sage Fixed Asset System preferred.                        

Experience Required:                

3 - 5 years accounting experience

Skill and Ability:                                        

Detail oriented.Financial analysis skills.Problem solving and analytical skills.Able to work in team environment.Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Access
