Description We are in the search for a dedicated Accountant to contribute to our team in the Health Insurance industry, located in Detroit, Michigan. In this role, you will primarily handle tasks such as monthly reconciliations, intercompany settlements, and journal entries, in addition to managing month-end processes and the general ledger. This role offers a short term contract employment opportunity. Responsibilities: • Conduct monthly reconciliation activities to ensure accurate financial records • Manage intercompany settlements to maintain financial integrity across various departments • Prepare and maintain journal entries to document financial transactions • Oversee month-end close procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting • Manage and update the general ledger, ensuring all financial data is accurate • Utilize your skills in intercompany accounting to maintain financial coherence across different departments • Handle settlements to resolve financial disputes or discrepancies. Requirements • Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. • Proven work experience as an Accountant in the Health Insurance industry. • Proficiency in Monthly Reconciliation tasks, ensuring all financial data is accurate. • Expertise in creating and managing Journal Entries, providing a clear record of all financial transactions. • Demonstrated experience with Month End Close procedures, ensuring all financial activities are completed and reported on time. • Knowledge of Intercompany transactions, including the ability to balance and reconcile transactions between different company accounts. • Experience with Intercompany Accounting, understanding the complexities of transactions between associated companies. • Aptitude for handling Settlements, ensuring all claims and transactions are settled accurately and promptly. • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly. • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. • Commitment to maintain confidentiality and comply with regulatory standards.
