We have an exciting position open within Caterpillar on the Enterprise Cost and Business Analysis team as an Accountant. The main responsibilities involve independently supporting the application of consistent cost methodology across the enterprise including governance of cost center Master Data Management, the annual Enterprise Normals Cycle (product cost rate setting), monthly Abnormals Reporting and product cost monitoring. Incumbent will provide support on complex business, financial or managerial issues within a corporate environment to our internal manufacturing facilities within Caterpillar.
This position has the exciting opportunity to lead and participate in many of the cost strategy projects taking place at Caterpillar, contributing to the enterprise’s overarching goals. Your role will be instrumental in shaping the financial strategies that drive our business forward. As a valued member of the team, you will work closely with multiple Business Units, providing support in various aspects of financial analysis and strategy.
**What You Will Do**
+ US Point of Contact for Cost Center Master Data Management
+ Maintenance and governance of templates and training materials
+ Review/Approval of requests primarily during US time zone
+ Provide cost center guidance to facilities during ERP transitions
+ Have an understanding and assist with annual Enterprise Normals Cycle (product cost rate setting), and monthly Abnormal submission reviews and approvals
+ Structuring and solving business problems. Collaborating and coordinating with a range of internal stakeholders to make recommendations on a wide range of business issues
+ Gain an understanding & document Caterpillar’s business and accounting practices, systems used as well as procedures across all divisions
+ Drive process improvements for Caterpillar’s business and accounting practices, our systems architecture, and procedures (including Product Costing, Normals and Abnormals processes)
+ Learn and develop skills which result from the practical application of basic accounting knowledge; also be a liaison to a project team or others in the work group
+ Gain understanding across following areas:
+ Cost system maintenance
+ Normals & machine rate development
+ Abnormals identification & reporting
+ Project involvement with Dashboard development, data analytics, and automation
**What You Will Have:**
+ **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
+ **Financial Analysis** : 5+ years of progressively responsible Accounting experience, preferably in P&L Cost Analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial material.
+ **Effective Communication:** Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
+ **Managing Multiple Priorities:** Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
+ **Analytical Thinking:** Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
+ **Accuracy and Attention to Detail** : Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
**Top Candidates Will Also Have:**
+ Strong background and understanding of either product costing or profit and loss analysis
+ Experience in Normals Cycle and Abnormals Reporting preferred
+ Strong expertise in global financial systems including SAP.
+ Knowledge of Caterpillar’s accounting structure and policies preferred.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, advise on challenging issues, and influence others inside and outside the department to take specific action
+ Power BI experience or willingness to learn independently
**Additional Info** :
+ Domestic relocation is available for those who qualify
+ This role is a full time, Hybrid position and currently requires 3 days a week in office.
+ Potential for limited amount of travel opportunities (up to 10-15%)
**Summary Pay Range:**
$108,360.00 - $162,480.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
