Job Description

Overview:  

As an integral part of our Accounting team, this role contributes to the daily financial operations and ensures that all transactions are recorded with accuracy, timeliness, and completeness, in line with corporate accounting policies and procedures. The role involves a wide range of responsibilities, from account reconciliations to internal controls, supporting both routine operations and special projects 

  

Key Deliverables: 

Reconcile all divisional bank accounts on a weekly basis, ensuring compliance with appropriate quarter-end cut-off requirements. 

Manage accounts receivable, including posting entries, processing payments, reconciling balances, and following up on overdue accounts. 

Maintain prepaid expenses and fixed assets by posting entries, preparing reconciliations, and writing off fully depreciated assets. 

Create and post journal entries to ensure accurate financial records. 

Post sales transactions and payouts in a timely manner. 

Prepare the monthly commission file, distribute statements, and record commission entries. 

Assist in preparing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end working papers, including supporting financial and operational statements and conducting preliminary variance analysis. 

Generate weekly cash flow and accounts receivable reports for Head Office and divisional staff. 

Conduct ad hoc analyses as requested to support decision-making. 

Assist in preparing quarterly working papers and checklists for audit purposes. 

Ensure all transactions are recorded in accordance with Brookfield Residental's accounting policies, maintaining accuracy and completeness. 

Provide information for internal and external audits, supporting the Senior Accounting Manager in compliance testing and analysis. 

Support the Senior Accounting Manager with data entry, reporting, and general accounting support. 

Contribute to special projects, including software enhancements, historical project analysis, and other one-time assignments. 

Share responsibilities with colleagues during peak periods or transitions, particularly in areas such as inventory management, budgeting, and accounting software inputs. 

  

What You Bring:

2-3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and practical knowledge. 

Strong understanding of fundamental accounting principles and familiarity with computerized accounting systems. 

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. 

High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. 

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. 

Pursuing or holding a CPA designation is preferred
