The ideal candidate possesses a solid accounting background with experience in preparing journal entries and account reconciliations. This person is a self-starter, flexible, has a high level of integrity and is action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment.
**Location:**
This role is approved to be either Remote within the United States or Hybrid for associates in Newport News, VA, in accordance with company policy.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Prepare monthly account reconciliations to ensure accurate ties back to the company trial balance with no outstanding financial items.
+ Prepare, examine, and analyze capital projects reconciling in Construction in Progress accounts assigned to include progression of project, actual spend to budget, categorizing to proper asset profile, capitalization of assets and other functions.
+ Perform monthly reporting processes to include analyzing and preparing reports to ensure accuracy and integrity of details provided to Executives and other Finance departments.
+ Perform weekly Small Capital Expenditure process to include receipt of applications, examine and analyze applications, compilation of weekly approval spreadsheet, and communication process.
+ Load and reconcile asset capitalization packages into Fixed Asset Oracle database.
+ Monitor communication received via email for various asset transaction requests.
+ Support data requests for Corporate and external audits.
+ Work with Management and peers to identify and implement process improvements on an ongoing basis.
+ Liaise and partner with Finance, Field Finance, branch and distribution centers’ management, acquisitions, Headquarters departments, Information Technology, Shared Service Center, and others as necessary to solve open balance sheet transactions, to research expense fluctuations, and to address operational issues affecting Ferguson’s balance sheet accounts and/or income statement.
+ Perform month-end general ledger closing and year end subledger closing procedures, which includes the processing of journal entries and meeting stringent monthly deadlines.
+ Perform consolidated review of income statement accounts to ensure proper coding of expenses and to track expenses by categories with comparisons to years.
+ Demonstrate a strong understanding of the impact of the related accounting policies on the financial results.
+ Perform financial analysis potentially used to drive business decisions.
+ Perform various ad hoc requests and other duties assigned by management.
+ Work the hours needed to complete the assigned job responsibilities, which may exceed the standard work schedule.
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s degree required, Accounting or Finance preferred or equivalent work experience as an accountant.
+ 3+ years of accounting experience. Sophisticated large size organization ideal.
+ Knowledge of US GAAP.
+ Able to pass internal basic accounting tests.
+ Knowledge of Oracle a plus.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers and team members.
+ Organized and detail orientated.
+ Strong work ethic and the ability to meet deadlines.
+ Proficient analytical skills.

**Pay Range:**

$3,899.70 - $6,325.00
