POSITION SUMMARY:
The Accountant is responsible for month-end procedures including journal entries, reconciliations and reporting analytics, customer rebate tracking and reporting, audit testing and documentation, as well as continuous improvement projects to streamline processes/procedures.
This is a hybrid position based out of Novi, MI.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Execute general ledger accounting and month-end accounting functions, including journal entries and analysis worksheets
Support customer rebate programs including tracking, reporting, and preparing monthly accrual entries
Participate in designing and implementing financial processes, controls, and enabling systems which will be critical to the future growth of the business
Support the testing of controls to ensure consistent adherence of key controls is achieved and provide recommendations to business partners as needed.
Identify, lead, or participate in continuous improvement initiatives
Prepare monthly reports to meet the needs of business, senior management, and other internal customers
Perform account fluctuations and trend analysis, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements
Assist with governmental, tax and corporate reporting requirements
Support monthly corporate reporting and analysis in Hyperion
Participate in the corporate budgeting process as required
Adhere to financial policies such as GAAP and SOX
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
Strong analytical, creative, and independent thinking abilities
Excellent problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with advanced expertise in Excel
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
CPA (or working towards CPA)
Knowledge of GAAP principles
Familiarity with ReportsNow, JDE, ASI, Stratum, Hyperion Financial Management
COMPETENCIES:
