What We’re Looking For:
Degree or Diploma in Accounting and Taxation. At least 3 years of hands-on experience in an accounting firm. In-depth understanding of accounting principles, tax laws, and financial reporting. Proficiency in accounting and payroll software (e.g., CaseWare, QuickBooks, Xero, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong knowledge of SARS eFiling processes. Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously and meet deadlines. Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues. A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle. Role Responsibilities:
Financial Statements: Prepare and manage annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards. Engage with clients to discuss and review these statements. Monthly/Quarterly Accounts: Supervise monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes, conduct account reconciliations, resolve discrepancies, and ensure all accounting entries are accurate. Manage VAT and payroll processing in line with statutory requirements. Tax Compliance: Handle income tax returns for individuals and businesses, prepare provisional tax returns, and manage VAT, PAYE, and other submissions. Address any SARS-related issues, including objections and appeals. Regulatory Compliance: Oversee company registration and deregistration processes, submit annual returns, complete UBO reports, and handle COIDA filings. Additional Support: Lead and mentor junior team members, provide assistance with audits, maintain strong client relationships, and stay current on all relevant accounting and tax laws.
