Description We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for an Accountant in the government sector, based in Hemet, California. As an Accountant, your main role will be to handle various accounting tasks, including budget transfers, variance analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations. You will also be a part of ERP system implementations and ensure all financial activities comply with government regulations.
Responsibilities:
• Ensuring all financial operations are in accordance with government policies, guidelines, and GAAP and GASB standards
• Conducting comprehensive monthly balance sheet reconciliations to guarantee the accuracy of financial data and address discrepancies swiftly
• Undertaking detailed research and analysis of variances between actual and budgeted figures, delivering insightful reports to stakeholders about key financial trends
• Participating in or leading ERP system configurations, data migration, testing, and ongoing maintenance to streamline operations
• Managing the preparation and entry of monthly invoices, ensuring billing processes are executed timely and accurately
• Overseeing and processing budget transfers to align with the organization's financial plans and goals
• Assisting with government audits and ensuring all financial documentation and reporting are organized, compliant, and ready for auditing
• Preparing detailed financial statements and reports to support budget preparation, forecasting, and government reporting requirements
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process and system improvements, leveraging ERP functionalities to enhance accounting workflows
• Providing ERP training and support to finance team members to maximize system utilization. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the government sector.
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems is required.
• Experience with ADP - Financial Services is necessary.
• Familiarity with Cl Programming is essential.
• Ability to use Concur for expense management.
• Knowledge of ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning is crucial.
• Demonstrated expertise in various accounting functions.
• Experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
• Proven skills in auditing to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Ability to handle and maintain Balance Sheet Account.
