Description One of our clients in the Castro Valley area is looking for an Non-profit Accountant for a contract to hire opportunity. ***Contact Ade Henderson via LinkedIn for immediate consideration*** Responsibilities: + Manage full-cycle accounting processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, and preparation of financial statements. + Prepare detailed and accurate reports tailored for management, stakeholders, and external entities. + Ensure compliance with reporting requirements of federal and county grants, including invoicing and tracking expenditures. + Handle accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), including fund allocation to appropriate grant accounts. + Prepare budgets for grants and track grant performance to ensure alignment with funding agreements. + Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations for improvements to financial processes. + Collaborate with program teams to ensure program budgets are properly managed and comply with grant stipulations. + Lead grant audits and work with external auditors to produce supporting documentation as needed. Requirements + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required (CPA preferred but not mandatory). + Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit accounting, with hands-on experience managing federal and county grants. + Proven expertise in invoicing and financial management of complex grant portfolios. + Strong understanding of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards for nonprofits. + Proficiency with accounting software, such as QuickBooks (Nonprofit Edition), Blackbaud, or similar platforms. + Advanced knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and other financial tools. + Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. + Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders.
