ACCOUNTANT CLERK
Job Description APPLICANTS MUST BE PERMANENT IN THE CLERICAL ASSOCIATE CIVIL SERVICE TITLE The Office of Child Support Enforcement's (OCSE) primary mission is to ensure that non- custodial parents provide financial support for their children. OCSE's services include locating absent parents, establishing paternity and support, support collections, and the modification and enforcement of child support orders. The Accounting Department is responsible for all fiduciary functions in OCSE ensuring that child support payments are posted to the correct accounts, and that petitioners receive their child support payments in a timely manner. The Clerical Associate III serves as the Accountant Clerk of the Control Unit. Under the direction of the supervisor, the Senior Clerk is responsible for reviewing various reports generated by the New York State Child Support Office for errors. Reports all errors found to supervisor for corrective action. The Office of Child Support Services (OCSS) is looking to recruit one (1) Clerical Associate III who will: - Process returned undeliverable child support checks. Searches Child Support Management System (CSMS) for more appropriate address to reissue check or annotates CSMS to reflect the status of the checks as returned. - Post and verify Child Support Management System (CSMS) case number on payments received via mail. - Process list of child support checks that are outstanding for six months or longer. - Review daily report of rejected data entry transactions and determines the reason for the rejection. - Perform other duties as assigned. Hours: 9am-5pm Work Location: 150 Greenwich Street, 39th Floor, New York, NY 10007 Qualifications Qualification Requirements A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience. Skills Requirement Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
