Accountant Commission Management

JOB PURPOSE:

The Accountant, Commission Management is responsible for general accounting duties and for the management, calculation, and distribution of commissions. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining accurate policy data, entering commission statement data into the database for accurate and timely processing, reconciliation of inbound and outbound commission payments, researching and responding to inquiries. This position requires confidentiality, analytical thinking, complex problem solving, as well as the ability to interact collaboratively with various levels of the organization.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

§  Responsible for entering commission data and maintaining accurate, up-to-date statuses on all commission policies.

§  Provide support to employees and leaders in response to inquiries regarding commission payouts, deductions, and commission calculations.

§  Investigate and rectify any disagreements or issues regarding commission calculations or payouts.

§  Produce regular and ad-hoc reports detailing commission payouts, sales efficiency, and other critical metrics for the leadership team. Offer analytical insights and suggestions to enhance commission schemes and sales strategies.

§  Monitor adherence to the established standards, metrics, and procedures that are in place for all commission policies; when variances against the standards are found, communicate with direct manager the findings and to create a plan of action to resolve the situation.

§  Continually evaluate and refine commission calculation procedures and systems to improve efficiency, precision, and clarity by collaborating with external software consultant to develop and implement systems enhancements.

§  May be called upon to provide training to users of the commission software (SalesIQ).

§  Prepare and record journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information.

§  Prepare accurate and timely account reconciliations each month.

§  Complete accurate and timely monthly and year-end closing processes.

§  Analyze account activity and monthly financial statements and report out on any variances.

§  Work with business partners to develop, maintain, and improve internal controls, transparency, processes, and cross-functional effectiveness.

§  Support Finance system upgrades/implementations and end-user testing as needed.

§  Stay current with accounting trends and provide recommendations to senior leadership on any changes that may impact Numotion.

§  Assist our internal financial planning & analysis team (FP&A) with budgeting and forecasting.

§  May provide financial and non-financial audit preparation and support.

§  Utilize Numotion Leadership Principles to perform the job with integrity, compliance, and values consistent with Numotion’s mission. 

§  Adhere to employee or customer confidentiality and comply with Numotion’s policies and federal regulations.

§  Always provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations.  Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

§  Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.

§  Three plus (3+) years of experience working in a financial accounting role.

§  Proficient in MS Office, particularly MS Excel.

§  Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

§  Ability to concentrate and remain focused while handling multiple tasks, responsibilities, and projects.

 

PREFERRED COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

§  Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

§  Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

§  Proficient in accounting software and ERP system
