About the position:
Our Operations Finance Team in Greene, NY is looking for a professional, motivated, team-oriented individual to join our team as an Accountant. This is an entry-level role, which can also provide opportunities for growth and career advancement.
In this position, you will play an integral role in the success of the Operations Finance Department, while identifying opportunities to improve processes. As part of this role, you will provide financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data, prepare standard and non-standard journal entries for income and balance sheet statements, and compile various reports. You will work collaboratively with multiple functional areas to solve problems and achieve organizational goals.
You will:
* Aid in completion of month-end closing activities, including preparation and entry of standard and non-standard journal entries with appropriate supporting material, research unusual entries or general ledger balances, and prepare various reports to be distributed to management within deadlines.
* Assume primary responsibility for freight invoice review, ensuring invoices are coded with correct account information, reviewing and paying final mile invoices from our Sales & Service Centers, reconciling receivable accounts, and investigating and resolving GL account discrepancies.
* Collaborate with multiple functional areas to solve problems and create efficiencies within the organization.
* Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness. Maintain and improve standard work instructions for processes and reports.
* Maintain internal controls and data integrity following GAAP for financial activities related to inventories and other accounting functions.
* Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and provide various reports for the Controller and Corporate Finance.
About the schedule:
* This is a first shift, in-office role. Upon successful completion of training, you may have the option of a hybrid schedule.
About you:
* Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is preferred.
* At least an intermediate level Excel skills.
* Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in business and accounting.
* General knowledge of various accounting standards and guidelines preferred which may include Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the United States of America (US GAAP), Sarbanes Oxley (SOx), International Accounting Standards (IAS), and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* A high level of accuracy with strong attention to detail.
* A bias for action with the ability to execute plans and meet deadlines.
It would be great if you had:
* Experience using SAP or similar systems.
* Familiarity with a manufacturing environment.
About the total compensation package:
Salary - Expected to be between $60,000 and $70,000 depending on qualifications of selected candidate.
Relocation - This position may qualify for relocation.
