Accountant I This position reports directly to the Accounting and Finance Manager in the Accounts Receivable Department. The employee will be responsible for billing services related to the provided Specialty Care services entered in HMS for Pinellas County Health Plan enrollees. The position will Process HCFA/1500’s daily; verifies that the services have been provided as authorized and at the correct contractual reimbursement rate, initiate the billing process within HMS using the correct insurance reimbursement codes, fees and services; follows appropriate local and state fee policies when completing the billing process each time. The salary for this position starts at $40,284.40 annually , plus a competitive area differential (CAD) of $24.80 bi-weekly. Internal candidates will receive a higher salary than the pay grade minimum if eligible per DOH guidelines. Your Specific Responsibilities i ncludes, but are not limited to the following : + Bills Specialty Care claims in HMS. + Generates and reviews unbilled records and provided client services in HMS using Crystal reports/Info view, daily. + Reviews client information in HMS to verify client’s Primary Care Health Plan eligibility status. + Verifies client PCHP eligibility in CHEDAS, Florida Medicaid System and HMS to determine client’s eligibility for the County’s Health Plan on the date of service.; updates the Insurance screen and notepad in HMS with accurate information each time. + Generates provider statements for Accounts Payable section to reimburse the provider. + Reconciles contract as set up in HMS with amounts billed in HMS for each Specialty Provider. + Retrieves claims and/or medical notes from the eFax systems. + Work closely with the utilization Management team to resolve billing issues. + Monitors and documents errors in appropriate spreadsheets for tracking purposes and identify trends. + Updates Medicaid and Medicare fee schedules annually, as needed. + Enters services in HMS, generates authorizations for post-authorized claims and other. + Data entry in HMS to allow Services to be billed and invoiced in a timely manner to meet agency guidelines and requirements. + Resolves claim issues received from PCHP clients. + Reviews correspondence, billing and claim issues submitted by PCHP clients and SC Providers. + Verifies if the provider is a participating provider. + Assist department with the preparation of bi-weekly reports showing the claim and invoices status of the department. Preferred- • 1-3 years’ experience verifying eligibility status in CHEDAS. • Experience using the HMS/Billing Portal registering clients for clinic/dental services or doctor’s office. • 1-3 years of experience in Medical Billing and Coding (CPT codes) or is familiar with use of procedure manuals used in a doctor’s office and/or clinical setting.
