D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Accountant I. The right candidate will assist in creating and maintaining financial records to ensure financial transactions are properly recorded to produce accurate financial reporting. Reconcile subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Perform general cost accounting and other related duties Create and maintain accurate accounting records Compile financial data to assist in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports Perform a variety of balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations Participate in the monthly close and general ledger reconciliation Communicate with other departments as necessary to coordinate workflow and the collection of accounting information Aid external and internal auditors in annual audits Monitor and review compliance with applicable laws and regulations as necessary Perform ad-hoc financial analysis as requested Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company Ability to work overtime
Ability to travel overnight

Bachelor's degree inAccounting, Finance, or related discipline from a four-year college or university Zero to two years related experience and/or training Understanding and ability to adhere to General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and follow-through skills and detail orientation Ability to perform multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality Basic understanding of the general ledger and month-end closing process Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively to meet deadlines Analytical and organizational skills coupled with the ability to multitask effectively without compromising the quality of work Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications Proficiency with MS Office and email Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision

Preferred Qualifications

Mortgage lending experience a plus Knowledge in title processes a plus
