Accountant IIPosition Overview
Shaw Industries is searching for an Account to maintain flow, accuracy, and integrity of plant raw material inventories including resin, concentrates, waste, finish and packaging materials. Perform monthly reconciliation of raw and finished material accounts. Assist Accountant with variance projections, monthly closings and budget revisions. Compile and distributes weekly Plant Operating Variance Analysis (POVA) as necessary at plant 65 in Andalusia, AL.
Responsibilities:
Generates weekly raw material inventory flows using purchases, transfers in and out, returns to vendor, adjustments, and ending inventory to determine usage and cost.
Investigates whether usage falls within acceptable projections or expectations; establishes course(s) of action to resolve any discrepancies.
Reviews raw material handling procedures to ensure compliance to existing standards.
Provides weekly material (packaging and spin finish) usage information to the Accounting Clerk for incorporation into the POVA.
Balances and reconciles raw material inventories to general ledger on a monthly basis utilizing information generated from weekly flows.
Coordinates with Corporate Accounting to resolve any discrepancies with raw material receipts.
Create and analyze monthly material consumption/usage report from IMPACT Accounting System through the input of receipts and ending raw material and finished yarn inventories.
Investigate discrepancies and make changes as necessary. Generate usage entry and finalize account balancing.
Compiles and analyzes weekly production waste to calculate pounds over/under standard flow.
Conducts IE frequency studies, work sampling studies, and other plant audits as needed to assist in determining labor assignments or machine efficiencies.
Assists the Accountant with financial variance projections (annual, quarterly, monthly, bi-weekly), working independently as needed.
Assists the Accountant with monthly financial closings, working independently as needed.
Performs the responsibilities of the Accounting Clerk as needed.
Provides clerical or administrative support such as data collection or research for the Accounting and IE departments.
Complies with procedures found in Shaw Management System (SMS).

Requirements:
Four (4) year degree preferred.
Previous Accounting experience is preferred.
Two (2) years of experience in a clerical or office environment is preferred.
Work Shift
