Purpose

This position will assist with financial analysis and budgetary responsibilities in collaboration with other members of the Finance team and in support of the college’s overall financial operations relating to endowments. To perform accounting and related assignments involving the recording, analysis, and reporting of financial data. Responsible for exercising sound, independent judgment and thought in the application of advanced accounting knowledge.

This is a temporary position that will end approximately three years from the date of hire.

ResponsibilitiesAssist in tracking and managing endowment funding. Track fellows and holder appointments for the College of Liberal Arts (COLA). Update the endowment database and ensure university gift and endowment records match internal COLA records. Assist with preparing endowment compliance reviews and responses and quarterly reconciliation of endowment accounts using tools like Tableau, PowerBI, and Cognos. Assist in creating ad hoc financial and operational reports.Review COLA Official Occasion Expense Forms (OOEF) as per policies for entertainment expenditures.Assist and respond to financial inquiries from the College sub-units.Record and track Dean endowment commitments and unit-requested special funding requests in the commitment database and tracking log. Ensure commitments are processed and funded promptly.Assist the COLA Dean’s Office with financial transactions in Workday by holding the cost center manager role. Collaborate with other units on employee costing allocations and payroll issues as needed. Act as an information resource for financial business processes while following COLA guidelines. Assist in preparing departmental budgets and submitting annual budgets for departmental accounts according to the rules and regulations of the university. Support the team with transfers, annual merit reviews, and year-end tasks, including resolving deficit balances.Other related duties and functions as assigned and based on the evolving needs of the College.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration from an accredited institution. Two years of progressively responsible experience in finance or accounting with experience in financial analysis. Ability to work as a member of a large and complex team; providing exceptional, consistent, and reliable customer service in a financial capacity. Data analysis experience is a plus. Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, financial management, and internal controls. Proficient with Microsoft Office and functionalities of financial accounting and reporting systems.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years of professional experience in accounting and/or fiscal administration within a large R1 university setting. Experience supporting the financial operations of a large school or college with multi-million-dollar budgets. Working knowledge of university accounting and procurement policies and procedures. Experience working with FileMaker Pro, Tableau, PowerBI, Cognos, FRMS, Budget document, Workday, and VIP Direct.

Salary Range

$56,000 + depending on qualifications
