Accountant II - Technical Accounting

Responsibilities What you'll be doing: Prepare technical accounting memos for complex or non-standard transactions, including lease accounting (ASC 842), consolidation assessments (ASC 810), financing transactions, and revenue recognition Participate in the identification, research, and communication of accounting implications in relation to new business transactions and ventures or other non-routine events with the impacted business units, countries or functional departments Support the continuous creation, review and update of global accounting policies, as well as working closely with GMF controllership function, in reviewing existing policies to determine those requiring update, clarification, expansion, or modification Support training of appropriate personnel globally on accounting rules and policies Undertake special projects and support Global Finance and Controllership initiatives, as needed Lead and identify process improvement initiatives for the Technical Accounting team Qualifications What makes you a dream candidate? Knowledge of US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations Strong written and verbal communications skills, including developing excellent presentation skills Ability to work with a diverse group of people, within the Controller’s group and globally in-country – as well as at all levels (subordinates and superiors) Possess a continuous improvement and problem-solving mindset Ability to participate in the research and documentation of complex accounting issues Strong Excel skills Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance required 3-5 years Public accounting experience at a mid-tier or Big 4 firm in audit and/or advisory services and/or SEC public experience is required Licenses CPA Certification Upon Hire required What We Offer: Generous benefits package available on day one to include: 401K matching, bonding leave for new parents (12 weeks, 100% paid), tuition assistance, training, GM employee auto discount, community service pay and nine company holidays.
