The Accountant III is a dual accounting and tax role. This position will report to the U.S. Region Senior Manager Credit Control as well as U.S. Tax Director and will be a leading contributor and serve as key point of contact to Equipment Finance business. As part of the U.S. Finance team this position will be responsible for accounting, tax, reporting, and internal controls with respect to the Equipment Finance business.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Review loan vs lease classification for any new dealReview operating vs financing lease for all new leasesPerform control function of ensuring lease/loan schedule reviewed by Finance are properly set up in AspirePerform journal entries for cash movements that impact EF customers, funding to the EF entity, finding new leases/loansPerform monthly EF GL reconciliations and verification of syndication revenuesPerform SOX control functions for controls that reside within Finance for EFDetermine tax life for assets; MACRS rates for tax depreciationDetermine bonus depreciation eligibility by statePrepare federal and state income tax returnsDetermine onstream / upfront SUTReview SUT returns and coordinate paymentReview PPT filings and coordinate payment

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting3-5 year business related experienceEquipment Finance experience a plus.Working knowledge of US GAAP, particularly related to lease accountingPrior tax experience a plusAbility to develop and maintain close working relationships with internal stakeholdersExcellent oral and written communication skillsStrong organizational skills, including ability to prioritize multiple simultaneous tasksAttention to detail while demonstrating the ability to think critically and see the big picture

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $86,000.00 - $105,000.00 for the Chicago market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
