BASIC FUNCTION:
The Accountant III is responsible for the completion of monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting or related major required.
Experience: 2 years of experience in the financial operation of a large organization required.
Certification: n/a
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position is located indoors under normal working conditions. Should be able to push/pull 25 pounds, lift/move 15 pounds from floor to table, and be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing and filing for extended periods of time. Must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination, such as data entry, typing, and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to sit at a computer terminal or work station for prolonged period of time in addition to being able to squat, stand and work for a reasonable length of time and distance. Sensory requirements include the ability to articulate and comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to read the English language.
MAKING ELLIS EXCEPTIONAL (MEE) BEHAVIORS & STANDARDS
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
ACH & Wire Requests completion as needed on a monthly basis. Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements by completing standard and adjusting journal entries, and analyzing revenue and expense variances. Assist in the preparation of various expense accruals. Reconcile revenue batches for posting to the general ledger. Reconcile assigned balance sheet and expense accounts timely. Research differences and resolve to completion. Processing of self insurance malpractice expenses and settlements. Coordinates credit card machine distribution to departments and troubleshoots relating issues as they arise. Completion of Retail Pharmacy journal entries, reconciliations and financial statements Prepare schedules for the yearly audit and interact with the auditors as necessary. Tracking and recording of Fixed Assets & Capital Leases; including input into software and monthly reconciliations. Completion of Sales Tax filings for Ellis Medicine and Retail Pharmacy. Completion of Foundation journal entries, reconciliations and financial statements monthly & annually. Miscellaneous billings for Steam, cell phone towers, autopsies, miscellaneous rents, meals-on-wheels, miscellaneous physician billings, etc. Contribute to the team effort by working on special projects and miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Assistant Controller. Complete required training as assigned. Complies with Hospital and department policies, work rules and requirements. Adheres to patient privacy policies and procedures, maintain confidentiality. Adheres to the Making Ellis Exceptional (MEE) Behaviors & Standards and AIDET (Acknowledge, Identify, Duration, Expectation, Thank) and initiate, promote, and support change initiatives.

Salary Range: $24.75-$36.53/hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
