Major Activities
Prepare monthly workpapers related to sales and use tax return compliance, account reconciliations, and journal entries for assigned jurisdictions.Work with outside consultants on business license compliance, which includes gathering data, obtaining signatures, and providing copies of business licenses to stores.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to properly assign Vertex tax categories to new products.Review customer-provided exemption certificates and assist with customer inquiries.Respond to various jurisdictional notices.Prepare W-9s and distribute them to internal and external stakeholders as requested.Research and resolve tax technical issues.Other duties as assigned
Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experienceMinimum Special Certifications or technical skills
Working knowledge and application of accounting principlesProficient in Excel and the Microsoft suiteMinimum Type of experience the job requires
3+ years of related experience, including account reconciliationOther

Preferred Education

Certified Public Accountant candidate a plusExperience with Vertex indirect tax software and tax research tools such as Checkpoint Edge or Bloomberg Tax ResearchFamiliarity with ETL software such as Alteryx and ERP applications and tools such as Oracle, HFM, Essbase, and SmartViewExperience with Big 4 accounting firmsPreferred Type of experience the job requires
Sales and Use Tax Compliance experience for multiple statesApplicants in the U.S. must satisfy federal, state, and local legal requirements of the job.
