**Purpose and Use:**
Under general supervision, positions in this classification provide support to financial aspects of MGE by setting up, verifying, maintaining, and retiring fixed assets and preparing billings when Company property is damaged.
**Examples of Work Performed:**
+ Manages mass or specific asset records by assigning the asset to the appropriate account, creating target allocations for asset cost assignments, and processing asset retirements using the PowerPlant software.
+ Ensures accuracy of job orders by verifying there are charges for all assets utilized, matching the charges to what was installed and verifying there are close dates on all job orders.
+ Ensures appropriate allocation of assets to various lines of business by reviewing accounting records. Ensures all allocations meet business and regulatory requirements.
+ Creates manual project transactions and general ledger journal entries in Oracle ERP as needed to represent financial statement transactions.
+ Summarizes data for support pages used to prepare MGE's external financial filings with the Securities Exchange Commission, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin.
+ Handles miscellaneous billings when customers damage MGE property by preparing bills and reconciling accounts related to the billings.
+ Maintains financial security by following internal accounting controls.
**Qualifications**
**Education and Experience:**
+ A two-year degree in Accounting, or equivalent work experience as determined by Management.
+ Experience within the utility or other regulated industry preferred.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**
+ Ability to communicate effectively and establish effective working relationships with employees and customers.
+ Attention to detail.
+ Accurate 10-key skills.
+ Knowledge of computers including Microsoft Excel and Access.
+ Solid organizational skills.
+ Time management skills.
+ Ability to work well as part of a team.

**JOB LOCATION**
The position is hybrid, and office days are in downtown Madison, Wisconsin, where MGE is an active participant in community efforts to preserve the area's extraordinary quality of life.
