Accountant Senior
Overview This position is located at our main campus in Janesville, WI This position allows for some hybrid opportunities after a succesful orientation This position typically works office hours and has some flexibility with start and end times Takes the lead in applying principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare complex financial reports and regulatory reporting. Performs other duties as assigned. May be required to work overtime during peak periods Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities Leads financial close process, budgeting and audit cycle for assigned areas. Takes a lead role in understanding Finance system structure, leads upgrades. Prepares complex financial reviews and reconciliations, using both standard and ad hoc reporting tools to analyze source data. Takes a lead role in Finance strategic planning process (5 yr forecast) Works with other departmental staff and departmental managers to prepare budget for multiple entities and responds to questions from managers. Analyzes data to complete regulatory reporting for areas assigned. Analyzes complex financial processes and recommends opportunities to improve system financial performance. Assumes leadership role to complete projects in Finance department. Coordinates department workload of staff and associate accountants. Education and Experience BA in Accounting or Master's degree in related field. Ten years relative experience, two of which have been in healthcare. Certification and Licensure CPA designation a plus, but not required Skills and Abilities Ability to think independently desired, but could be developed on the job. Mathematical Skills Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and other departmental personnel. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should be familiar with automated accounting systems and proficient in Excel or other spreadsheet application. Knowledge of word processing software is helpful.
