Description Accountant needed with in a University Tax Department for an Immediate Start! (Great Benefits) Our client, an award-winning, highly regarded University located in North Central San Antonio is looking for an Accountant for a temporary to full time position. The accountant is instrumental in ensuring the University of the Incarnate Word and related entities are in compliance with tax and debt regulations, reporting requirements, and provides annual audit support. Job Duties Job Duty Name Tax Description of Job Duty Assist in the preparation/submission of the university tax returns, including but not limited to Forms 990 and 990-T; Ensures compliance with collection and remittance of sales tax and hotel occupancy tax to both state and local governments. Collaborates with relevant institutional departments to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local tax regulations. Responds to inquiries accurately and in a timely manner. Job Duty Name Audit Description of Job Duty Prepares annual financial audit work papers; Collaborates with external auditors in the preparation of the annual benefits audit; Prepares confirmation letters; Prepares annual compliance documents and associated supplementary information; Responds to audit inquiries accurately and in a timely manner. Job Duty Name Reporting requirements Description of Job Duty Prepares annual debt disclosure requirement summary; Prepares Moody’s annual disclosure request; Prepares quarterly and annual financial statements for international joint ventures; Assists in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements for international consolidated entities; Prepares quarterly compliance documents. Job Duty Description of Job Duty Prepares monthly reconciliations and journal entries as needed; Assists in the preparation of the annual debt service budget; Qualifications Ability to interpret and analyze financial documents and reports; Possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments, in order to meet concurrent deadlines; Ability to embrace challenges and possess the initiative to tackle new assignments with attention to detail and continuous improvement; Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Office applications including databases, spreadsheets, and/or word processing; Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and use rational judgment in making work-related decisions; Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business with a concentration in accounting. Work Hours: Mon through Fri 8am to 5pm with extended hours as needed to meet departmental goals. The accountant should be able to work in Excel to include v-look ups, pivot tables and formulas. The accountant will work Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. Requirements • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a tax accounting role is required. • Familiarity with different Accounting Software Systems. • Proficiency in using Concur is a must. • Knowledge of ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning systems is essential. • Demonstrated ability to handle various Accounting Functions. • Experience in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR). • Proven skills in Auditing are necessary. • Ability to manage and maintain Balance Sheet Account. • Experience in preparing and filing Tax - Form 990. • Knowledge of Federal Income Tax is required. • Familiarity with State tax laws and regulations.
