What We Need: This entry level Staff Accountant position is an opportunity to become directly involved in the monthly closing process and daily operations of the Corporate Accounting area within the Controllers Division. The Staff Accountant uses a variety of computer software packages and other financial system reports to assist in posting journal entries to the general ledger, to reconcile various general ledger accounts, and to report, analyze, and reconcile financial data related to premium and claims for various BCBSMA products and lines of business. The Staff Accountant will be someone with solid analytical skills who enjoys the research and reconciliation process, has strict attention to detail, and has the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines. Your Day to Day 1. Maintain a variety of spreadsheets/pivot tables from daily/monthly data files to support journal entries. 2. Prepare numerous journal entries related to claims/premium. 3. Prepare numerous account reconciliations. 4. Utilize various data software packages in order to support/analyze data related to claims/premium activity. This job is also eligible for variable pay.
