Position OverviewThe Accounting Analyst assists in the accounting, planning, reporting, and analysis of assigned business activity for the company. This role performs GAAP-compliant accounting and controls for assigned areas and provides support to business partners in budget development and management.
Job Description
Prepare required recurring analysis, including an explanation of variances and recommendations for finance/business partners. Partners heavily with key stakeholders to gain deep insight into assigned areas.Collaborate with business partners and gain a full understanding of the business context to better anticipate potential issues, explain variances, and support the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts. This includes but is not limited to gathering and sharing data in assigned areas, and providing prior period and budget vs actual comparison of results.Review assigned Profit & Loss (P&L) statements to ensure reasonableness and accuracy. Research abnormal situations and identify variances. Make recommendations on correcting actions and entries.Prepare revenue analyses, expenses, and account balances to ensure financial controls are in place to minimize unexpected results.Review, and validate monthly balances to ensure they are appropriately stated in accordance with established accounting practices.Prepare, review and process journal entries as required to accurately reflect financial activities for a given period.Prepare special financial analyses for business groups and/or management. Aid management in the implementation of process improvement initiatives.Prepare and communicate balance composition and variance analysis to management., including calling out issues and making recommendations for process improvements/enhancements.Assist Supervisor/Mgr. in the onboarding of new Associate Analyst level team members.Review & validate internal financial reporting is consistent with GAAP accounting principles. This includes maintaining relevant desk procedures, checklists, and checklist performance.Participate in the review of various expenses and collect information for audits as requested.Travel Required:No
