Job Description

This role is a member of a team that is primarily responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of all project and fixed asset activity. That means you not only get to help figure out how to account for the projects the utility is doing, but you also get to learn about them too! Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Ensures assigned responsibilities are completed, accounted for and reported properly. Thoroughly understands all aspects of assigned accounting processes. Identifies accounting issues and resolutions within a timely manner. Keeps management informed of accounting issues and progress of task completion. Support company compliance by staying up to date on current accounting regulations impacting assigned responsibilities. Research accounting regulations and/or changing requirements and applies them to the company’s transactions. Assures the integrity, accuracy and reliability of accounting and financial information provided by the group. Research and provide capital and operations and maintenance determinations to internal customers. Prepare monthly closing journals and account reconciliations as assigned. Respond to questions of internal customers, auditors, and commission staff. Collaborate with team members and co-workers across the Company to create process improvements/efficiencies. Understand and comply with SOX procedures and controls. Research accounting issues, prepares complex analysis, provides recommendations on creative solutions and comprehensive advice to inform management decision making. Ensures company compliance with professional, management and regulatory accounting requirements by implementing necessary changes within function as a result of current developments. Performs analysis of complex accounting transactions for internal and/or external customers. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, accounting, general business, tax, statistics or a related field is required 2+ years of accounting experience Comprehensive knowledge of theory and general practices of subject area Demonstrated advance understanding of the accounting field and good understanding of the company’s business processes and operations

Hybrid work options are available for this role. The successful candidate will be required to work at our Spokane, Washington headquarters at least 3 days per week including Mondays and Tuesdays with an additional day determined by the employee and manager.
