Accounting Analyst II - Acquisitions, Divestitures & Consolidations

Job Summary** The Corporate Accounting Analyst II will be expected to apply complex principles of accounting to analyze financial information, prepare financial reports, and coordinate the implementation of accounting controls. Successful candidates should demonstrate expert accounting and analytical acumen as well as a solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, specifically around consolidations, acquisitions, divestitures and goodwill. **II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities** To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned. + Executes moderately complex financial tasks in a timely and accurate manner; and completes individual analytical projects in a satisfactory manner given abstract project guidelines. + Performs month-end close activities for assigned areas of responsibility including preparing journal entries of low to high complexity on a monthly basis by collecting necessary data, analyzing and/or allocating costs and preparing audit trail support for the journal entries. + Analyzes general ledger accounts for accuracy; Prepare monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and adequately document conclusions. + Analyzes monthly financial results; able to communicate trends in results and provide meaningful insights into the results. Displays critical thinking skills in preparation of analyses. + Collects and analyze financial data and prepare monthly combined financial statements and reports. Coordinate preparation of monthly financial package and reviews for accuracy. + Assists with evaluating, documenting, and concluding on the accounting consequences of potential transactions. + Participates in monthly financial review meetings. + Provides guidance to other Accounting/Finance personnel for proper internal and external financial accounting procedures and their application. + Assists with the maintenance and application of internal controls. Execute internal controls responsibilities timely and accurately. **III. Supervisory Responsibilities** This job may require supervisory duties. **IV. Qualifications** The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job. A. Education and Experience + Education: Bachelor’s Degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree, high School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four (4) years of relevant experience. + Experience: Three (3) years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement). B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements + None required. CPA or similar certification preferred. C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required + General understanding of US GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley and SEC regulations. + Strong written and verbal communication skills. + Strong business acumen. + Must be in the Houston area; Able to commute to corporate office in downtown Houston. + Must be authorized to work in the US. **V.
