Accounting Assistant
Description We are currently in search of an Accounting Assistant. This role involves handling accounting and financial office support tasks, such as accounts receivable and payable. This opportunity offers a long-term contract employment opportunity. Responsibilities: • Accurately process customer credit applications and maintain their records • Manage accounts payable by reviewing invoices and preparing them for payment • Perform audits and reconcile reports and information, and post data as required • Generate general ledger entries and reconcile month-end reports to balance with General Ledger • Prepare a variety of reports and forms, including the use of arithmetic calculations • Research and compile information from a variety of sources for the completion of forms or the preparation of reports • Provide factual information regarding policies, rules, or procedures • Prepare listings of delinquent utility accounts and take necessary action to resolve delinquency • Open new service accounts, determine the proper deposit, and assign account numbers • Enter utility payments and meter readings into the computer • Serve as cashier for the organization, accepting payments, fees, and deposits for various services • Balance daily cash receipts, print reports for audit trail, and make bank deposits • Perform a variety of general office support tasks such as proofreading materials for accuracy and compliance with department policies and regulations • Operate standard office equipment and potentially supervise other accounting staff. Requirements • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within a non-profit setting • Proficiency in handling Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) • Demonstrated ability to accurately enter invoices • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles • Strong data entry skills with an emphasis on accuracy • Familiarity with financial software programs • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written • High level of integrity and trustworthiness • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
