Accounting Assistant

Job Title: Accounting Assistant

Location: Winslow, Maine

Key Responsibilities:

Handle bank reconciliations.Prepare monthly journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.Reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accurate financial data and compliance with regulations.Review accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring timely payments and collections.Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.Support annual audit processes by providing necessary documentation and reports.Manage fixed asset records, including depreciation schedules and capital expenditure tracking.Coordinate with external vendors, clients, and internal departments to resolve financial discrepancies.Use Microsoft Excel to manage and analyze financial data.Collaborate with other team members to support overall department goals and objectives.Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.Respond to inquiries from the Controller and other finance personnel regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc.Understand sales tax regulations in each state and Canadian HST requirements.Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 2+ years of experience in accounting or in a related role.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.High attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.Ability to be detail-oriented and obtain a high degree of accuracy.Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multi-task with minimal supervision.Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
