Job Description
We are seeking an Accounting Assistant to support our Bookkeeper. The ideal candidate will assist with purchase order and invoice creation, focusing primarily on accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) duties and reporting.
Responsibilities
+ Maintain and update general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy in all financial records.
+ Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), including invoicing, vendor payments, and collections.
+ Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly to ensure accuracy of balances.
+ Monitor cash flow, expense reports, and assist with financial reporting.
+ Assist in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets and profit & loss reports.
+ Prepare and process payroll for hourly, salaried, and contract employees on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis as required.
+ Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including tax withholding, benefit deductions, and wage adjustments.
+ Maintain employee payroll records, including timecards, PTO, overtime, and wage adjustments.
+ Generate payroll reports and ensure payroll tax payments are made on time.
+ Handle year-end payroll tasks, such as W-2 and 1099 issuance.
+ Stay up to date with payroll laws and accounting principles to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
+ Assist with audits, tax filings, and other regulatory financial reporting as required.
+ Manage employee records related to payroll, benefits, and deductions.
+ Assist the accounting team with month-end and year-end close processes.
+ Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Essential Skills
+ 1+ years of experience with accounts payable/accounts receivable.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
Work Environment
This is a great opportunity with a growing company. The position is a new addition to the accounting department and provides a chance to begin a career in accounting. You will work in a professional office environment and report directly to the Bookkeeper.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
