The Department of Revenue is happy to welcome an Accounting Assistant to join our talented team of fiscal professionals. This position gives you the opportunity to provide cash management functions within the division to help ensure its operations are efficient and effective. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As an Accounting Assistant, you will be responsible for reviewing and verifying reports submitted by the various Magisterial District Judges and Clerk of Courts each month before settlement. This includes verifying if all fines are accurate and paid to the proper account. If errors are found, telephone contact will be necessary to advise of errors found and provide guidance on the proper reporting of additional monies due. This position reviews and verifies audits for all county offices, prepares a Settlement Notice to the Auditor General for final approval when reports are verified as accurately settled, and maintains and files all reports and audits. You will access PNC Bank report transactions compared to PATH reports and receive all cash and checks tendered to the bureau. Your attention to detail skills will be key as you review monthly bank statements to verify that all checks were cashed, and the account is balanced. Interested in learning more? Work Schedule and Additional Information: + Full-time employment + Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. + Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. + Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $39,785 (before taxes). + Parking is free at the Brookwood Street facility. + You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: + Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work;or + An Associate Degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits of accounting. + Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
