Job Description
The primary focus of the Accounting Associate is to provide support to the Commission Accounting Team and the General Accounting Supervisor. This position is responsible for assisting the team with the Business Insurance Direct Bill Application in accordance with the objectives and procedures outlined by the Director of Finance.
ResponsibilitiesAdminister the operations of Business Insurance Direct Bill Commission ApplicationApply carrier commissionsWork with carriers to gain access to commission statementsWork with operations team to ensure policies are set up in the systemUpload chargebacks for Business InsuranceProcess return commission requests and refunds due back to carriersAct as backup for Contingency applicationFile appropriate documents in Shared Folders and Electronic Filing SystemSet up carriers with electronic fund transfers (ACH/Wires)Act as Backup Lead on Reconciliation upload toolsAssist Lead in various projects associated with system conversion to EPICAssist Lead with any ad hoc projectsEssential Skills1+ year of experience in administrative/accounting rolesProficiency with Excel (pivot tables and VLOOKUPS)Experience using ERP or other company softwareProficiency with 10-key, Microsoft Word, and Intermediate Excel skillsBasic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Professional written, verbal communication, organization, and people skillsHigh attention to accuracy and detailAdditional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree preferred but not requiredBasic knowledge of Account Management Systems and insurance terminology preferred but not requiredAbility to adapt quickly to change and bring innovative ideas to the jobExperience showing increasing responsibility in a professional office setting working in accountingWork Environment
Supports three small teams: AP team, AR team, and general accounting. Works 7.75 hours per day/38.75 hours weekly with no overtime during the assignment. Work schedule is Monday to Friday with a flexible start time and the option to take a half-hour break. If local to San Diego County, must be onsite 3 days a week for the first 90 days, then move to 1 day onsite. If not local to San Diego County, must be onsite once a week.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00
