Job Summary

The Accounting Clerk will perform a wide variety of responsible clerical and technical accounting work involved in performing financial record keeping and reporting duties in support of assigned accounting system, function, or program area including in the areas of general ledger, accounts payable/purchasing, maintains files and records; performs a variety of clerical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

The classification of this position is broad and assigned specific functional areas; duties and assignments may overlap depending on the operational needs of the department.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:  

Responsible for all facets of sales accounting to keep billing and collections current.Blue Hawaiian Activities reconciliation of supplier billing and hotel statements, forwarding invoices for paymentDaily cash reconciliation and reportingAssist with A/P – forwarding of invoices, reconciliation, follow up, monthly check requests (parking permits, landing fees, additional rent) Assist with month end G/L closing Monthly reports for the state of HI (landings, overflights, revenue)Retail - transfers, PO’s, physical inventory countFilling for the Accounting Team.Fielding accounting callsOpening and routing mailOther duties as assigned

Additional Job Requirements

Regular scheduled attendanceIndicate the percentage of time spent traveling - 2%

Subject to applicable laws and Blue Hawaiian Helicopters policies, regular attendance is an essential function of the position.  All employees must follow Blue Hawaiian Helicopters employment practices and policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education & Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two to five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associate’s degree (A.A.) preferred. Minimum of three years accounting experience.Experience in a travel & tourism environment is preferred.

Skills

Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.Able to meet deadlines and multi-task.Self-starter.Strong communication skills both written and verbal.A/P and A/R experience.General ledger accounting skills preferred. 

Computer Skills

Advanced with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Knowledge of Alpro, Mas90, RITE, and other POS systems preferred.
