Accounting Clerk

SUMMARY  

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to support our accounting team. This entry-level role involves a variety of accounting tasks, including handling accounts payable (AP) preparing journal entries, and backing up AR functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and a keen eye for detail.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounts Payable (AP): Process vendor invoices, ensuring proper approval, and accurate coding. Assist in maintaining vendor records and reconciling discrepancies. Prepare and process payments to vendors in a timely manner. Monitor and track outstanding accounts payable balances, ensuring accurate reporting. Tech Service Billing & Accounts Receivable (AR) Support: Prepare Service billing invoices for Tech Services. Post service hours to Projects Provide support and backup to the Accounts Receivable team during periods of high volume or absence. Ensure continuity of AR operations and resolve any issues that arise. Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger. Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring all entries are accurate and complete. Maintain proper documentation and support for all journal entries. General Accounting Support: Maintain and update accounting files, records, and ledgers. Perform Balance Sheet reconciliation and ensure that all transactions are accurately reflected in company records. Help with month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring all financial records are accurately maintained. Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders regarding financial matters.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.                                             

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: 

Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices. Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., ERP, SAP, or similar) is an advantage. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial data. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: 

AA degree in accounting or a combination of education and experience. 2+ years of relevant accounting experience
