Accounting/Finance Intern - Budgeting

Overview This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of budgetary duties and analyses pertaining to the development of the annual budget process, monthly accounting and forecasting process and monthly analysis/reporting against the budget and forecast. Under the supervision of the manager, Finance and Budgeting and/or Budget Analysts, this position will perform responsibilities to assist employees on tasks necessary to accomplish budget, accounting and reporting functions. Student must be enrolled full time, pursuing a bachelors degree. This position will be full time (approximately 40 hours per week or close to it) during summers and part-time during spring and fall semesters (approximately 20-25 hours per week, depending on the students class schedule). The Company will be flexible in the part-time work schedule (8am-5pm Monday-Friday) based on the student’s class schedule. Responsibilities Assists with project set up within PowerPlan. Assists in the annual budgeting process for O&M and Capital. Queries the Oracle and PowerPlan databases and utilizes the output to update various Excel spreadsheets. Prepares various monthly and quarterly reports with actual, budget, forecast data for supported businesses. Assists with monthly accounting journal entries, including accrual and other journal entries, within the Oracle Financial system. Performs other duties as directed and assigned by Manager/Budget Analysts. Qualifications Completed sophomore year of undergraduate studies with declared major in accounting, finance, business or related degree. Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office, especially proficient with the use of Excel. Must be able to demonstrate excellent examples of attention to detail as well as organizational and analytical skills. Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP preferred but not required. Above average interpersonal written/oral communication skills required. Minimum 3.00 GPA
