Overview of Position
The Accounting & Finance Manager handles complex and often cross-business unit accounting and finance matters. The role will primarily be responsible for leading the day-to-day GL accounting for certain aspects of the mobile business unit and will ensure that the financial statements are fairly stated in all material aspects in accordance with US GAAP.
The role will report to the Mobile Accounting Director and will support multiple teams within the Assurant organization.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
General Accounting & Financial Reporting
Perform day-to-day supervisory of accounting and finance staff. Ensure complete, accurate and timely accounting deliverables in accordance with procedures, accounting and policy guidance.
Assist with General Ledger accounting for a certain mobile business program.
Assist with operational controls improvement and documentation.
Drive automation efforts for inventory processes, month-end close entries and Oracle process improvement projects.
Review and approve customer billing process and ensure timely settlement.
Lead monthly in-depth financial variance and trend analysis for key profitability drivers and metrics; interpret results, and articulate actionable insights.
Provide site level financial outlook as input to weekly and monthly forecast process.
Assist with in depth direct labor expense analysis and provide timely reporting to site management.
Manage reporting of facility occupancy and G&A expenses.
Assist with monthly and quarterly financial statement analytics for executive management and the customer.
Key contact for internal & external audit requests related to inventory and billing statements.
Lead accounting system setups for new customer initiatives.
Support strategic and ad-hoc projects as appropriate.
Inventory Accounting & Reporting
Assist in the documentation and maintenance of inventory sub-processes, including the identification and testing of relevant SOX controls.
Supervise monthly subledger accounting and adjustments for inventory, including the review of journal entries and related account reconciliations
Actively work with Operations and ERP team in the development and testing of new inventory reports and oversee related user testing.
Enhance existing inventory accounting policies and/or implement new policies where warranted.
Actively work with Operations, ERP, and internal audit teams to develop effective inventory existence procedures (e.g., wall-to-wall physical inventories and/or cycle count program) for all company managed locations. Coordinate independent observations with external auditors, as necessary.
Key contact for internal & external audit requests related to inventory.
What are the requirements needed for this position?
Basic Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
CPA designation preferred
Minimum of 8 years of accounting experience
Strong knowledge of US GAAP principles and internal control environments
Experience with Oracle or other large ERP
Strong experience with reporting and variance analysis
Strong experience creating and analyzing large amounts of data
Intermediate to Advanced MS Excel (v-lookups, pivots, functions, macros)
Strong analytical skills in reviewing trend data and exception recognition
Additional Skills & Knowledge
Superior communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to engage and influence multi-level staff up to executive management
Pay Range
$86,000.00 - $143,700.00
Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience, and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
