Accounting Manager, Ambulatory Surgery Centers

Summary:

The Accounting Manager position supports the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Division of Community Health Systems by compiling financial statements for ASCs, performing analytical review of internal financial reports, advising ASC Administrators on financial matters, monthly close responsibilities, and other special projects.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare monthly financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement, etc.) for the surgery centers and financial summaries for the ASC Division.Perform monthly analytical reviews of ASC financials including assessment of revenue and AR.Assist with vendor management and accounts payable for ASCs.Prepare quarterly cash distribution calculations for ASCs.Assist with capital spend requests and analysis.Assist with external audit and corporate accounting requests.Ensure monthly close process is timely and financials are delivered by due date each month.Provide other support to the Director of Accounting, Ambulatory Surgery Centers by completing special projects and other periodically assigned duties.Responsible for tracking and logging the status of open items related to facility financial reviews and following up with facilities to ensure corrections are made in a timely manner.Develop process improvements as needed.

 

Qualifications:

Education: B.A. in Accounting, Finance or related field.Experience:Minimum of 5 years experience in accounting, auditing, or related field in a health care environment.ASC accounting experience preferredReasoning Ability: A candidate must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form as well as the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. This individual must have strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively. It is essential that the candidate be able to use critical thinking skills to solve complex issues.Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel spreadsheet and Word processing software. Knowledge and experience using general ledger systems a must, with experience using Oracle a plus. Knowledge of a reporting database system such as ESSBASE or Smartview is a plus.Certificates and Licenses: CPA License a plus
